Critical Commentary
Christa Hasenkopf is the co-founder and CEO of OpenAQ, and Adjunct Professor at John Hopkins University. She is an atmospheric scientist with research expertise in 'under-studied but highly-polluted regions'. She co-founded OpenAQ to collect government-verified data from different countries and host it in accessible and transparent ways. Data shared and stored in OpenAQ has been used to develop many open data projects that share and visualize air quality information (Smokey air quality bot, for example). I interviewed Christa via Skype on November 2, 2017. She is committed to open data principles and public understanding of air pollution.
